Hole for pocket clip not threaded

My ZT 0566 has one of the holes for the pocket clip that is not threaded correctly. Of course it's on the side that I want the PC on. I sent it back to the Mothership for correction, but despite clear instructions with a picture on what was needed, all they did was move the PC to the original location and sharpen it. They did not re-thread the hole. What a disappointment; poor ZT customer service. I don't want to send it back again and be without it for several more weeks. Can you suggest someplace in West Houston area to have the repair made? I certainly don't have those tiny tap and dies!

If the threads are actually there but a little screwed up you might try taking a spare pocket clip screw and filing a taper on the end so it can get in there and self align before a thread starts.

Also some one who knows ZT might post the thread size. Then you could buy a tap. They are available individually. I just look and one can get a similar tap for under $10

If you plan on not removing the pocket clip yo could try putting a little red loctite in the hole and then inserting the screw.

You could also use blue loctite if you aren’t sure you won’t move the clip again.

Thanks all for the help. I figured out it was a 2-56, ran the tap through by hand as far as I could without disassembling the knife, and it worked. A guy at work had a set of TINY taps. Seems the threads were just too rough and unfinished when it left the factory. A little blue Lock-tite and I'm good to go.

View attachment 976368 Here is a thread chart for small screws. 1st column= size. 2nd column= size in decimal inches. Other columns=threads per inch. When threads per inch is not a whole number, you’re looking at a metric size which is normally designated in mm/thread. Notice the similarity between the #2X56TPI and the 2.2mmX56.4TPI (56.4TPI=0.45mm/thread).
