Andre - Welcome to the Spyderco forum. Are you in Pretoria? At Spyderco, we believe that the custom makers need to be associated with the factories for the sake of the ELU (End Line User).

Peter Jhones is the contact for all legal "agreements" and "other things". He is at Spyderco's office in Golden. Email, telephone or fax.

For custom makers, to make customs only. (Cannot resell deigns to manufacturer). We have a one time fee of $50 for this licence. this permits us to protect our trademark and still share.

Naturally I would like to order one for my own collection, fully serrated please. We'd also like to see photos of some of the designs. Eventually, we would like to have some type of referral for the custom makers using our trademark to reach ELU.

By the way. Owen Wood just relocated to Golden. He is working in our R&D Dept.

Mr. Glesser,

When I sent in my check for this agreement, I was told it was for a "limited number" of handmade knives. When I asked how many that was, I was old "about 25." I haven't even reached this yet (and my knifemaking is on hiatus, anyhow), but I would like to get the straight scoop on this agreement. Does it give me the right to make as many knives as I please as long as I make them myself in a non-factory environment, or is it limited to some number?

I do have a letter regarding the agreement around somewhere, and I apologize if that information is contained therein.

By the way, even for 25 knives I think you are doing a great thing allowing custom makers this opportunity, and fully understand why you must protect your patent.

Corduroy - The number is not critical. We just picked a number that would be about what the average custom maker might make in a year. We're just trying to keep them out the factories. Don't want to dilute the quality reputation attached to the Round Hole. Thanx for the support.

Andre - I'll be at Blade Show in Atlanta. I'll share what I know, but the legal end isn't my area of expertise.
