I have a friend send me a mosaic pin that is an odd size. Caliper reads 0.394 +/- 0.001. What drill bit would you recommend for this pin? My findings seem to point me to an X-size bit which is 0.397, is this about the proper tolerance for pin fit up? Hate to spend $20 on a drill bit on something id never have a use for if it is wrong. Thanks.

Yes the pin was .394 so a 10mm/1cm is what he meant.. I was lucky enough to find someone with and be able to borrow an X-size bit. 0.397 bit of the X size worked perfectly, any bigger would have left a gap. Thanks for the folks who had some reasonable help!

Ha ha! true story. MSC and others will sell you those odd sized bits for five bucks or less... Least that's my estimation. Just because it's not a standard size doesn't mean it has to cost an arm and a leg.
