Is it a registered trademark infringement?

I would guess off the top of my head it is not but I am no lawyer. It depends on how the trademark papers were written

Could be, it reminds me of the way a SAR 5 talon hole.

So... if it's not, it's probably real close.

It is a cool knife though

The last time someone posted about the talon hole deal, I asked about the Sar5 style hole... didn't get any response....

Is the trademark a hole in a tang or anywhere near the base of the blade? Example, if someone were to have a slightly different blade shape and handle shape but have a hole placed in the same location/style as the Sar5, would that be infringement or not? I've just been curious about this. Any thoughts?

Maybe, if busse invented the idea of a nonfunctional hole in a knife.

has Jerry ever posted the exact wording on the patent

There is frequent confusion on this issue. Jerry Busse did not invent the idea of a hole in a knife. Nor does he have a patent on it. The front talon hole as a design feature on a knife is a Registered Trademark of the Busse Combat Knife Co.

from Wikipedia : "A registered trademark confers a bundle of exclusive rights upon the registered owner, including the right to exclusive use of the mark in relation to the products or services for which it is registered. The law in most jurisdictions also allows the owner of a registered trademark to prevent unauthorized use of the mark in relation to products or services which are identical or "colourfully" similar to the "registered" products or services, and in certain cases, prevent use in relation to entirely dissimilar products or services." Empasis mine

So, Jerry "owns" the exclusive right to use that specific design feature on a knife. And for him to maintain that right, he has to enforce it by stopping any and all enfringement.

I have no idea, but when I think about it, I never see any holes around the choil area on other brands of knives, so any hole, either SAR 5 style or on a seperate ring, might be a Busse thing only.

Oh please god, some day let him call me with a tax question:)
.

If I sell my Busses at a loss to my brother in Belize, can I take that as a deduction? How about if he gives them back to me next year for my birthday?

That scandi grind looks hollow. Is there such a thing as a hollow scandi grind? Maybe it's just a really shallow hollow grind...
