Holiday Buck's running out?

I was going to buy a couple of the holiday Buck 112 collector tins today, but my local Walmart was already sold out. This is odd, because last year they had bunches of the holiday 110's left over, being sold for clearance prices all the way into January. I just happened to run into the sporting goods manager and asked about the knives. He said they were completely sold out, that Walmart did not order nearly as many 112's as they did the 110's last year, because they did not want to get stuck with a bunch of clearance items like last year. He did not know any exact numbers, but he thought that the Buck holiday promotional order was not only reduced, but split with the two knife bone handled Chinese sets, so the Buck 112's nationwide are proibably not going to be around for big clearance sales like last year.

I am going to hit a couple of other area Walmarts to see if I can find a couple of the 112's. Just thought I would put this out FWIW, in case any of you guys were planning to wait and buy them on clearance after Christmas. I am sure every store is different, but I would not count on a huge number of clearance knives like we saw last year.

That's bad news... :(

What is worse is that some Wal-Marts did not put out any Buck knives at all, not the 112 or 3-knife sets...nor the Remington set that was mentioned here also... :grumpy:

I've asked, and nobody knows anything...

My local Wal-Marts are either sold out, or down to just 2-3 112's.

The Red Bone slipjoints went REALLY fast.

I had to go to over ten Walmarts in NY/NJ to find them. I ended up getting 8 112 tins all together but that was pure luck. I got six in one NJ store and two in one NY store. The other 8 stores never had them and did not know what I was talking about. All ten stores had the Remington sets. The 110s where not around long last year in NY. I got them after the holidays, but they were never marked down here......

My Wal Mart in PA still has some but I doubt there will be a huge clearance sale on them. Same with those Leatherman multi-tool and knife combo's, just a few left.

the ones west of the blue ridge mountians either sold out or did not order any the ones that sold out did not order many...
memories of last year like some one said i guess
... i only do 110's ... i collect 110's ... i only do 110's....
naw that self hip-no-zes jest dont work ...
small wallet does...
oh well... untell ...
i hit a loto!

As a followup, I checked another Walmart in my area and found 7 of the 112's, Bought two of them. There were none of the red bone slipjoint knives at either Walmart. The Walmart where I found the 112's had probably 30+ of the 110's at this same time last year, if that is any indicator. A third Walmart that I went in out of curiosity was sold out of both sets.

Also, as a tip, once the big displays are sold down to a handful of knives, they sometimes get moved to an out of the way location, so it pays to ask the sporting goods clerk if they still have any. The two I bought had been moved to a shelf away from any related items, but still in sporting goods.

None were stocked here either...
But a fellow BCCI member "hooked me up"
Thanks again sir :D I really appreciated that!!!!

Last weekend the local wally had 4 112 tin cans on the shelf......every time I was there they seemed to have 4 on the shelf. Last night I went to get one for a freind.....and they were out......zero...zip....all gone. However; there is a walmart in every town out this way......so this weekend I'll look some more. My extra one will be floating over the ocean on Friday :) .

Still had about 8 tins each of the 112s and redbones. But we only had them in one of the three WW in Grand Rapids. Gonna keep a close eye on them next week & maybe pick up another one.
