Holiday in Nepal

A friend of mine will soon be taking off for Nepal for several weeks.

If anyone can point me towards somewhere I can find out about places that are off the normal tourist track, I'd be grateful.

Head for western Nepal if you want to avoid the tourists and hire a GOOD guide. Maoists are all over Nepal these days and one of the ways they earn their keep is by robbing tourists. And they are not adverse to killing a few if it suits their purpose. This is why the good guide is important. He should know which areas are ok and which are not.

I forgot to say that when I was living in Nepal many an enjoyable night I spent drinking and swapping tales with Aussies. Quite a few of them visit Nepal and great drinkers and story tellers they are!
