I've been fortunate enough through my life to never have to worry about where I'm going to sleep at night or where my next meal is going to come from. That being the case, I like to give back as much as I can. I usually do something armed forces related but I think that we can all agree that regardless of the charity it's always good to help those with less opportunity than ourselves.
Here is the rundown:
Knife up for grabs
-Spyderco Delica 4 Emerson OR a Spyderco Endura 4 Emerson. Your choice if you are the winner. The Endura has MINOR scuffs and is the standard dark blue color. The Delica is in like new condition and the scales have been dyed black. They have also both been sharpened to a nice convex edge. Neither has been carried more than five times. Both will ship in original boxes.
How to qualify
-In order to enter you have to donate to a charity of your choosing. Then you must post an image or screenshot of your confirmation screen or receipt with the dollar amount visible. It's not that I don't believe you guys, but to do this fairly an image is necessary.
The cut-off date will be December 27th and all of those who have posted validation of their donation will be entered into a raffle for the knife of your choosing. This means that a $1 donation is just as likely to win as a $50 donation, although it would be very appreciable if you gave as much as you can. I will make a post and contact the winner by new years day.
I'd love to give away something nicer but I just don't have the cash to do so. Maybe if this goes well we can get a donor for something nice next year
If the knife does not reach $50 (cumulatively) I'll just sell it and donate the proceeds.
Additional Notes
This isn't about getting a good deal. My hope is that we can come together as a community and give MUCH more than what this knife is worth to our respective charities of choice; judging by some of your collections this goal is easily obtainable. I encourage those not participating to cheer on those are so we can make the total contribution something we can all be proud of.
Even if you can only donate a small amount please post a picture so I can keep track of the aggregate. This is about giving, not winning.
These are usually fighting words around here but before you buy yourself the next blade think if that money would be better served going to a Marine coming home from Afghanistan without a leg or an arm, don't you think this would be a GREAT gift?
Thanks so much in advance, from me and those who you choose to help.
Charities
It would be awesome if everyone could post one or two of their favorite charities and possibly even links to their websites. One, to show everyone some new options; and two, to keep this thread on the first page for the masses to see.
