As many of us know, the holiday season can be very dark times for some people. Let us take a moment to keep in mind those who are alone not just physically but emotionally as well.

Great thread. Prayers and good thoughts out to those that are having a rough time at this time of year.

Great post Mark.

We don't have to look any further than these forums to have friends who are going through a lot.

Bumping last years thread so I don't feel like I'm repeating myself.

Amen Markksr.

Funny thing is, I started reading this thread from the start and noticed rebeltf's post and was going to welcome him back to the BF's, Then I noticed the Date.:D

Wow... this actually brought a few tears.

This Christmas, I'll be at an Alco-thon. 24 hours o meetings, if one so chooses, he could spend all day doing meetings. I'll do just that with all the good AA coffee. Perhaps even chair a meeting.

Do you have a friend from whom you've become estranged due to their mental illness/ emotional problems?

Why not pick up the phone and just say hello or just send out a quick Holiday card and let them know they are not alone in this world.

Good idea. I have a couple of friends like that who I could send holiday cards to. Thank you for this thread.

Great thread markksr:thumbup:. I don't pray (I'm an atheist), but I certainly believe in giving emotional support to fellow forum friends. My thoughts are with those who are having tough times.

As long as we are repeating ourselves ... which in this case is a good idea ... I'll repeat my annual Christmas Eve poem.

Merry Christmas! Can you hear
The tapping hooves of tiny deer,
The scraping rails of Santa's sleigh --
Can you wait ... just one more day?

I wish the best for all of you,
And a happy and prosperous New Year, too!

I am signing off, the kids in bed waiting for Santa, a glass of Athol Brose, winding down.

Dropped my maid off at the railway station yesterday, she is returning to Zimbabwe to be with her children and grandchildren. She is the bread winner although her husband works in Bulowayo getting anything in Zim$ is pitifull. I gave her a cholera emergency pack for her to go with. With the crowds of economic refugees coming and going last year she had trouble returning to Botswana, this year it will be worse with both countries spoiling for a fight.

A prayer for my country pls!
