Can I produce a hollow grind on a 6X48 sander? What would be the best way to go about it? Thanks

You can't.
It's done with a wheel, around which is traveling the abrasive belt, making the hollow grind diameter of your chosing.

Just set your grinder up like this and then you can hollow grind smaller blades like the one below. Just takes a little patience and practice. This is a 4X36 grinder.

Anything can be done. While an 8 inch or 10 on a regular 2X72 grinder is much easier here is what you can do.

Just like in Jim Moyer's post look at how he has the grinder facing at you. Now stand in front of it and start grinding carefully from the edge inward towards the spine. By removing the steel from the edge first and working your way up the spine you will begin to profile your hollow grind. Stop frequently and check your work under the light. The reflection will indicate how uniform your grind is. Go easy and don't take too much off in any one spot. Always keep the blade moving along the grinding contact wheel.

Great advice guys. I love this site. You are all a great bunch!!! Barkes Knife Shop looks to have it's self well organized. Looks great.
