Sorry if this has been posted recently I might not be sure what to look for. My father gave me one of his hunting knives to sharpen. It was a cheapy one with the hollowed-out handle so you can put matches and such in there and they wont get wet. Well i screwed up the blade skin on it as well as not being able to have success in sharpening it (In the learning process of this haha). So, as a gift I thought id buy him one of decent quality. I cannot find any good recommendation other than Chris Reeve ones of course, haha but everywhere I look for em I cannot find any that are in stock. So could you guys help me with the terminology as well as giving recommendations of decent quality and priced ones? Thanks!

I know Schrade makes a couple hollow handle knives. Not sure of anything in between the two opposite prices.

We're limited to recommending dealers except the ones that are Blade Forums dealer sponsors and we're limited on giving out prices. That being said; why not go to Chris Reeve's web site and click on his dealers list and go to them direct. Do some shopping at the big box stores as well.

I can't think of anyone currently making hollow handled/survival fixed blade knives other than those mentioned so far. Good luck on your hunt.

I don't know what you're looking for and looking to spend, but THIS THREAD HERE has more information than you can imagine about hollow handle knives. It is the same one in my signature line. Also, shameless plug here, but you can find several different types/price levels of hollow handle knives on my website, the link is below. Either way, there are a number of good makers/models out there, and I hope you find what you are looking for.

Perfect awesome thank for your help

First thing I thought of was Double Secret Probation, but I may be hopelessly trapped in the '70s. :D

CRK stopped making the hollow handle knives several years ago, but the Schrade versions (almost identical except for 1070 instead of a2) are actually pretty good knives.

I think this might do better in General Knife discussion. The hollow handle hunters and fighters are a little less traditional then we normally see. I'm moving it now.

Sounds good thank you, I think i am going to go with the Boker Plus Apparo, anyone know where i could get a skin on this blade?

Google "Custom Cerakote" and you will have tons of hits of businesses that will do any kind of "skin" you want.

The Boker Apparo is a good solid knife he will like it.
