Holster materials

Does anyone know where I can obtain the steel spring unit that holds the holster open so it won't collapse when the pistol is out of the holster?

What kind of holster are you wanting to make?

Horsewright I am planning a pancake style holster for a Glock 19. with a red dot rmr sight. The spring steel piece would go at top of holster and would be covered with a leather strap. I would keep the holster mouth open while the pistol is out.

McMaster-Carr sells strips of spring tempered 1095 in various widths and thicknesses. They also sell soft strips if you want to do the heat treat yourself.
