Hi guys,

I though one or two of you might like to see this unusual beastie thats fallen into my lap! {Although Artzi of Oriental Arms fame, came a close second in his bidding! :wink: }

A Genuine Holtzapffel & Co London made kukri!

Its of truly outstanding workmanship as befits Englands most prestigious & renowned, manufacturer of Gentlemans lathes, prescion engineering tools & fighting cutlery. {Also auther of books on Steel forging,sharpening & tempering etc. as well as ornamental turning which are still regarded today by many cabinet makers as the bible of these subjects.}

Anyway enough of the patter!

Hers the pix!

Thanks Spiral. What a beautiful instrument. I see now what rings the bell of collectors.

Nice...belongs in the Cantina of course, but nice...

Thanks guys, it is a lovely speicimien, "rings my bell" indeed! :D

Sorry Nasty, I was still going on what Munk posted a month or 2 ago {when still moderator.} that he checked & the supermods agreed Antique kukri should go in the HI forum not the cantina,, so they dont get deleted.

I didnt realise that had been updated again.

But I now know!

cheers,

Hmmm...there might have been a ruling I wasn't aware of.

munk - Let me know so I can do this properly.

No foul regardless Spiral...it's a nice piece.

Very nice khukuri indeed, Spiral; do continue to show off your collection! Hope you don't attempt that balancing act with properly convexed and sharpened knives... :D

Very nice! I'm not sure I have the cajones to balance any of my Khuks on my thumbnail though. If the weight didn't cause it to cut me, I'd drop it and either stupidly try to catch it or use my foot to slow it down before it hit the ground. And we all know how that would end!:eek:

Thanks guys!

DrDan do you think that wasnt made properly convexed? & that its not sharp ? :D

It only nicks the nail the slightest, just dont wobble! :rolleyes: :D

Thanks Bill! Thats very helpfull of you! ;) It was a good game! normaly I am a sniper, hence the moniker, so this time I was laughing my head off playing the toytown bids with the juniors & shills! I bet they though the £10 raises were serious!!!! :D

But I knew how much my final bid would be & would have been happy to pay it. Didnt have to though. ;)

In a proper antique tool auction house thats a tiny fraction of what it would fetch.

I've tried Spiral's thumbnail-balancing technique a couple of times, and all I have to say is that it takes nerves of steel - and boots to match!:eek:

Thankyou Berkley, If I had a bowing emoticon Id use it. ;)

The nail balancing I can do no problem, the taking the photo at the same time with the camera in the other hand & concentrating on both things at the same time is whats tricky. ;) :D
