I was reading about George Washington Sears, one of the founders of Field and Stream magazine. He wrote about the holy trinity of outdoor tools. A double sided axe, a folding knife and a fixed blade. The fixed blade is also called a Nessmuk due to the fact that Mr. Sears used that pseudonym when writing, and he had the blade shape custom made to his specs. Anyway what's your Holy Trinity. Mine is a SAK Champ type C, A Ralph Bone custom hunter. I prefer a lighter axe than most double sided ones . I have had the same axe for 30+ years. So I'll keep the axe but I have no idea who made it.

I would have to add a multi tool to that list so it wouldn’t be a trinity. 😆

I think a single bit axe, is safer. Getting hurt in the wilderness was very bad back then.

I’d go with a small single bit axe, or large hatchet with 2 fixed blades, one heavy, one lighter.
