been having fun with this minicommander, waving it open, thumbing it open, etc.

at first, the lock wasn't engaging fully, but its worked itself in now.

now its REALLY tight. i need 2 hands to disengage the lock after i wave it open. my thumb is sore and my thumb tip is wearing raw from trying to move the liner lock over a bit. (the teeth cut into the liner aren't the smoothest :))

granted, i'm awfully confident that it won't accidentally disengage... ever, its still somewhat embarrassing to wave it open, and then use 2 hands closing it.

should it be like this, or am i a wimp who's not accustomed to bending titanium with his thumb? :)

other than that, i love this thing so much, i even took the clip from my Native and moved it to left-hand configuration :)

p.s. mine has a small cosmetic imperfection right on the bit of liner that makes up the lock. a small oily-looking blue discolorment that looks like it was burnt from the laser cutting or something. i *like* it- adds character or something :)

Congratulations on the Mini.

EKI leaves the face for the blade unpolished. This is done so that therye is NO possibility of the knife closing on you accidently. If nothing else can be said, you not going to have that liner slip off the blade and bite you. :D

The blue spot you see if actually "Heat Anodizing." Mine has it too and it looks pretty damn cool. Imagine having the entire liner done Blue like that. :D

The Strider Folders have Heat Anodizing in the same place, but for some reason, instead of a pretty blue, thiers comes out looking Rust Brown. Looks like either Rust or dried Blood.

ah, i was gonna say it looks annodized.

nah, before i get the liners annodized, i'm gonna have some Ti bolsters put on- i love that look.

Mine has two very tiny little brown marks that look like rust. Now I know what they are!

I've got the same problem with my Commander. No way that liner is moving all the way closed one-handed. It's much too stiff, and waved open, over too far.

Hawkins, please explain the Native clip conversion.Thanks,tom.

sure, though i'm not very good at explaining this stuff.

I took a pair of coins, used them to unscrew the screws holding the clip in. clip comes off, i move it to the opposite "liner", fit it into the square cut-out, and then replaced the screws, tightening them with the coins.

unscrew it from where you see the clip on the closed one, and remount it in the little square molded into the handle (which is seen on the open one)

mines an older Native though- not sure what year, but its a GIN-1 blade. handle design should be about the same though

hope that helps.

Thank You Dan.I was confused as to how You used a Native clip on Your Mini-Commander.Now I see You used it on the Native.tom.;)
