As the title says I have been home alone for a few days, and yesterday I was planning on having a few friends over for a little poker, hold-em style. Well I had talked to my moms cousin to have dinner last night at 6 so we went to dinner. I took some Advil not thinking about the fact that the only pain reliever I can take is Tylenol because I'm allergic to everything else. Luckily I only get facial swelling, but it is quite annoying, I once had the same reaction to asprin as I did Advil just that the Advil wasn't as severe. So after dinner I noticed my lip was starting to swell so I took 2 Benadryl right away, my parents called from niagra falls to talk to me that day and I mentioned that i took some Advil, and its on the no no list for athsmamatics. Well I didn't end up doing poker, and I basically was pretty pissed that I took the Advil, I did have a minor headache and thats all my moms cousin kept with here.
So this morning I have soreness from the swelling but feeling better. It's really lame.

Sorry to hear that.

Sounds like a good day to hang out and sharpen knives & oil folders.

Have you spoken to your doctor about your allergies? It might be a good idea to have an epi-pen around in case of a severe reaction.

Maybe you should carry one of those "spy capsule" things on your keychain with a few Tylenol and a few Benadryl in it.

Gollnick that is a great excuse to buy a tad gear sealed aluminum container.

65535, be careful with things you might have an allergic reaction to, especially if you are alone. Things can get serious real quick! I'm not allergic to Advil, but several years ago I found that it repeatedly caused pulmonary edema (fluid in my lungs) in me by the interaction of it with my blood pressure drugs. Tylenol does not cause that in me. That's just a "for what it's worth" story for others who might be taking blood pressure medications. Drug interactions can kill you graveyard dead! Know what you are taking and what it can do when combined with other things, prescription or over the counter. You cannot count on the doctor or the pharmacist to keep you out of trouble. It does not work like that!

Definitely good advice Dr. Mudd, I didn't even consider that I might have been allergic to it. But In hind sight there are many medications that are not recommended for use to asthmatics, so I need to be careful, luckily I feel fine.

I definitely agree with the spy capsule at the least. Actually, I just started carrying a capsule with Tylenol, because I don't have any negative reactions to it. Never leave yourself stuck taking anything you already know is no good for you. Right now it's a swollen lip -- next time it could be closer to shock.

Alternative to the spy capsule; I was at the gun store yesterday and saw they have these small capsules or containers made out of a single spent shotgun shell.
Also along the same lines as above... I actually remember someone making a small container by pushing together two spent shotgun shells of different calibers (obviously one smaller, and one bigger). I forgot the calibers that match up though. And I can't remember who came up with this idea. Maybe Phil Elmore???

I think I would get the spy capsule, it's nice easy and clean. I really should get it though.
