So here's the second sheath I've attempted.

This time I wanted a pocket sheath for my 11. I wear Duluth Trading flex firehose work pants so I cut the sheath to fit in a particular pocket of the pants as you can see.

I wet and boned the sheath around the knife and now it actually "snaps" in the last inch. They are not joking when they warn you to use rounded tools to bone leather as you can see the creases caused by my (short) fingernails where I was pushing the leather around the knife.

Here is the required picture of the blade itself as I know you guys would not want to go without seeing it....

I think next up, a revised sheath with a thumb snap for my 16 and then I'll tackle the big dog, the 10.

Also, did you include a welt around the cutting edge at all? If not, and done so due to keeping it low profile, you could replace the stitching around the blade with hammered copper rivets. The copper would be soft enough to keep from dulling the edge of the blade.

I was just thinking this. I'm too slow today.

Nice work. I like how you made it the size of the pocket, therefore it stays in one place in the pocket.....ingenuity....love it.

I want a leather sheath but I'd screw it up. I did up a pocket sheath a few days ago as well but I used a think nylon belt to do the trick. My 11 rides in it.

Here's a pic of what I made up

Thanks everyone...

Grizz,

I only have a welt at the top inch or so of the opening.
I made it so the boned part restricts how deep it will go. I ran around for a few days without the scales and it didn't seem to me that the blade was going to make it to the stitching.

Yes I did leave it rough out to make it sticky in the pocket.

I saw that inventive sheath you made. Pretty slick.
