I have all manners of sporks, eating tools etc, and I got this idea to try to modify a regular tablespoon ( they're on a couple of bucks a dozen at a kitchen supply place ) I ground the front down flat and sanded it smooth to hold down meat or food better ( I don't use forks in the bush, rather my knife tip or stick ) , and added a lanyard ring. I've done ones where I cut the handle shorter, but it is a p.i.t.a. to use. I am working on some other ideas as I like to mod my gear. Maybe you fellas got some ideas too.

Looks pretty good. My suggestion would be to add a small spring clip/carabiner to the ring so you can easily snap it to your pack.

Be careful eating off of your knife tip tough, it's all fun and games until you slice your tongue.

Thought about the foldable thing; the hinge is the problem. I've seen some plastic folding utensils recently ( msr or gsi , I don't remember ). The lightmyfire kfs thing gave me an idea to weld or rivet a knife and fork together on top of each other, but shorter.

IMHO, making it foldable offers very little.

It ain't that long to begin with; very packable (and light). ;)

The consequences of putting a hinge on this design out weigh the original.

Very nice work hiwa, thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I'm in the process of re-vitalizing all my outdoor gear ( I got a ton ! ) and putting lightness and multi-purpose at the top of priorities. I just found maxpedition pouches ( hard to find here), but they cost a fortune !!
