Here are some pics of the home-made kydex rig I just made for a BK9.
To be honest, the stock sheath rattles a lot. I really like it except for that fact. I thought about molding the kydex insert to stop that (which would be very easy), but decided to just make a new sheath altogether. Kydex is just too fun.
It's made of 0.093" kydex (thick stuff) and non-corrosive chicago screws. I've tried to make it as durable as possible. This is a high ride sheath that can be worn vertical, horizontal, and canted 45* forward. As you can see in one of the pics, I have reinforced the sheath in the horizontal carry position with an extra chicago screw at the top of the belt loop. This sheath is tension adjustable (the lock-up is just as great at low tension as it is at high tension) as well as fully field-strippable. Sheaths get dirty, and being able to easily dissasemble and clean the sheath is very important to me. This sheath also has a drain hole at the bottom.
If it seems a bit over-built (for example, the numerous chic. screws), this is part of the reason: I'm making it for Cliff Stamp. Also, durability is very important to me.
This BK9 is on loan from Cliff (I'm testing it a bit before I send it on to him). I'm enjoying using it! Thanks again, Cliff, for the opportunity to try it out.
