So I got bored today and made some micarta I'm going to use on my 11. It has a nice wood grain to it.

now I just need to find time to cut them out

Nice! What material did you make the micarta out of?

sweet, cant wait to see the results...

which brings me to this, the 11 is one of my all time favorite beckers, I can't answer as to why because I really don't care for funky grooved shaped handles but the 11 I like...

but I've said I was going to do this before and I think I may do it now, I want to make a metal insert for the bottle opener.. I have yet to see a rehandle job done that still looks 'unfinished' because of that..

you should maybe cut out a piece of that micarta or something to stuff in that opening if it bothers you as much as it does me... :D

I love the bottle opener too much to fill/cover it up. But I'll make a pice for it and post the pics so u can see it

Are those cut down drywall screws, or are the scales through bolted?

Not dry wall screws. There machine screws in these weird nut things I have no idea what they are called

nice going, Paden.
If you want them to look great too, I recommend the following:

1) take them off the knife and bolt them to each other. Then sand the fronts of the scales until they match one another.
2) round the corners substantially with a file or something, then sand with medium-grit sandpaper to remove the file marks.
3) blend that rounding toward the middle of the flats if you want to see more texture.
4) sand up to 180 at a minimum, but probably up to 360 or so - suddenly they'll look 'done' and you'll be shocked at the difference

Ok sounds good I'll try that. There still not finished I have yet to open them up where the bottle opener is and a little shaping.

I'm jealous! Gonna have to try that when I get home this fall.

NOW how do you open your Sammys (or Yuengling, or...)? :D

Man that's cool. I've been thinking about making a set for a while. Now I think I'm up for it. Thanks for the post.

I will be cutting out the bottle opener when I have time. For now I'm using my la rue tactical bottle opener for my cold bevrages
