last weekend i made a pretty good throwing "knife". really just a blade. i took an old chopping kitchen knife, that had the point chipped off and i cut off the handle with strong scissors used for cutting tree branches. the knife tang went only about 1/3 of the way down the handle so it was pretty short. i wrapped thin rope around it, then strong tape, then more of the rope, and then a final layer of bungee-type cord just alot thinner. works wonderfully for a makeshift thrower. and i sharpened the chipped tip on a rock by the house to make a rounder point. sticks well in i guess medium-soft wood from 10 feet away, maybe more, if you can hit the board.
