hi there thought id just put a couple of pics up , tried out walnut dye on some latest projects .
i picked up a small bag of dried walnut hulls from a local herb store about a buk for a couple of cups worth .

so i put about a cup in a old small saucepan and simmered them in about 2 cups of purified water until there was only about 1/4 cup of liquid left .
very dark liquid grainy bits in it so i strained though some muslin cloth .
i coated my projects several times and allowed to dry fully in the sun in between coats of dye .
pretty happy with the color , i hot wax dipped my projects (big fan of the hot beeswax effect , mother natures kydex !) so color went a lot darker .
heres some before and after (walnut dye and after wax dipping ) .

hope you like !!

colors came out pretty true to life in the pics .
