Home stabilizing works

OK I changed the recipe a bit for wood stabilizing and got fantastic results:

1 lb of toluene (very nasty stuff, BTW, use full protection)
1/2 lb of B72

That makes a 30% solution. I re-treated the wood from the 20% solution using the same process and got much better results. The wood resists water and is still hard all the way thru. I completed a knife with it and really like the results.

That was all very dry maple. I'm going to try some other woods and will post results if anyone cares to know.

Sounds good steve! Post some pics when you can. I am using B-72 with acetone. Have to come up with weight ratio, but am very pleased with the results.

Actually you can see it. The knife is on it's way to your house for another swell Tess sheath.

The wood was not pre-cut so you can inspect the edge to see the insides.
