Homebuilt heated oil quenching tank

This is one of those projects that only a knife maker would appreciate. (The ramblings of a mind short of cash and long on desire.)Hey! I wanna build knives! The next project is a real gas fired forge. Hope this helps someone. Be glad to answer any questions.

I like that. Nice design.
My quench tank uses a heating element from a defunct electric water heater. I just plug it in for about 8 min. and the oil is ready to go.

I made a metal shoe box about 16 inches long and set it on a hot plate.Use a thermometer it works great.
