I've found convex edges to be easy to create and maintain but I hated how I never had anything to secure my sandpaper and mousepad to. I was at wally world and saw 3m wet/dry in thinner strips than the full sheets I had been using and this idea instantly popped into my head. I cut the mousepad to fit the 2x4 and drilled a hole for the screw. The wing nut tightens the smaller piece to clamp the paper in place, then I attached two strips of mousepad to the bottom so it doesnt slip. I made it with scraps I had in the garage too so the cost was nil.
