I consider myself to be pretty handy, and have pretty good success when trying to tackle projects instead of going out and buying them directly. Maybe I just enjoy the challenge! Anyhow, since my collection of Kershaw's and Leeks continues to grow, I wanted to have somewhere nice to display them for friends and family. After shopping around for a few pre-made or custom-made hanging wall displays, I went ahead and chose to make my own. This one was created using a 24" x 36" glass picture frame sourced at a craft store. The 2" wide "box" was made out of 2" x 1/2" poplar strips, and a 1/4" ply backboard. Piano hinges for the door to swing on, a key lock, and (4) draw-latches to hold it all together.
Currently I am using 3" foam to provide compression against the knives when the display is closed. So far it's working fine, but I'm thinking about trying a different material like memory foam to better conform to the back of the knives. Anyhow, let me know what you think! Above the display in one of the pics is the Kershaw Speedsafe display that I picked up, with a non-sharp 1660NE attached via cable wire.
