Homemade heat treat

Hey all,

I ran this thread on another forum and thought I would run it here as well.

What kind of HOMEMADE heat treating ovens and furnaces do you all use? Don Fogg has some cool ones and I would like to see what you all use.(Might even make me have to make a new toy!) I'm looking for anything from gas to electric here. Salt or whatever.

Post pics if possible.

Hey Craig
Make it yourself and you will be able to repair it yourself I always say.
I use propane fired salt pots high and low temp. with salt marquench in a horizontal bath, also propane fired.
There are two photos in my web site under shop in the index. All of the gas valves are manualy operated and I use a digital pyrometer and thurmocouple for temp. reading.
I have had it running for just over a year now and the only problems I have had is that I burnt out a couple of cheap thurmocouples.
No tech rules!!!
