So I've been debating buying a Hinderer Armorer Tool, but I'm having trouble with the thought of spending $75 for one. I took a screwdriver and a Dremel and made a makeshift one that worked okay, but just wasn't a perfect fit so that got me thinking.... I found a nut driver bit that was almost the exact outside diameter of the pivot (7/32"), and a metal file and got busy. I'm pretty happy with the results! I took my time and it's an exact fit with no play. 😊

Great job! ......Mr. Hinderer doesn't need any more money from us ...lol ill be doing the same thing soon! thanks for the idea Sir.

Cool. I like seeing people make there own tools (I do it myself sometimes).

$75 for a spanner! Holy crap!

Well done.

Yeah 75$ for that joke of a tool is a, well, joke. But people pay it. Good job there. I had made one from a screwdriver bit also and it worked great. I also made my own Shiro bits out of screwdriver bits also.

No pictures means never happened. Here is my story.

Out of principle, I was holding off buying any Hinderer knife for years due to Hinderer's marking policy.

So when I made my Strider spanner/slot tool, kept an open mind and left the opposite end option open for Hinderer, whenever I get one...:

Hinderer changed its pricing policy last year '15, was able to get the two from a dealer same price as direct.

Unmolested end on Strider spanner tool was machined to have an exact fit for Hinderer, as well as adding machined adjustable holes for push pin handle and hex flats for finer control:

This end shows spanner to fit Hinderer as well as custom PB pivot washers to replace the flimsy Hinderer teflon variety:

But....for all intended purpose, once tight initial factory set pivot is broken loose, perfect fit pivot wrench leverage is no longer needed. Although, precise fitting wrench can avoid the ugly cam'ed out marks on pivot captivating spanner or single slot.

Victor, that's some very nice work. Wish I had access to a lathe and milling machine, but alas these days I'm stuck with a vise, hacksaw, and some files. [emoji6]
