My son and I made some Micarta
Here is my BK16 and my son’s Buck Vantage.
We used an old coat for the 16 and blue jeans for the Vantage. We also made some with my old OD green USMC wool socks for a future project.

Both knives were a lot of work but we are both happy with the results.
The slabs on the 16 are a little thicker. I used 5/8” SS hardware.

I did thin it down enough so the factory sheath strap will still fit.
Thanks for looking.

Looks good, the contours are nice and even on both sides and unlike me it looks like you didn't scratch any of the handle coating while making them.

Excellent micarta. Very well done, mon frere.

So has anyone ever tryed to make paper micarta here?

Been thinking of making using some black and eco-nombleached paper for that nice camo style

That stuff looks better than some of the professionally made/production micarta. Nice work!!!!

Well done. Id like to see more on the process you used to make the micatra.

Looks really good, and you spent shine good time learning a skill with your son. Can't beat that!

What did you use for the epoxy?

I just finished making a couple slabs out of some old flannel shirts. Can't wait to see what they'll look like finished up on the blade.

Thanks all, I didn't take any photos of the process I could take one of the press I made if it would be of interest. Lots of videos on the web, better instructions then I could give. I think using a paint roller tray with a liner in it was helpful. Also a paint mixing stick to push the resin through the cloth and remove extra resin. We held the press over the tray when we clamped it a lot of resin ran out. I used Bondo brand made by 3M. It has a brown/yellow tint to it.
We used some paper with the jeans to give it contrast. Next time I think I would leave out the paper.
I think flannel or tie-dye would look great more so if you could find a clear resin.
