Okay i have read the threads on making micarta and what not and was what kind ever discussed. I saw a name but i am certain that brand is not sold in the states. So not giving a brand which may or may not be locally sold. What are we looking for. Wood epoxy, metal epoxy, what? I need to know what it should be used for to find some. I know it needs to be pretty viscous. What else?

Hello,

At one time I thought about making my own Phenolic. I thought Blue Jean Demin phenolic. What a great idea. Then the book I purchased on the phenolic arrived, and I found out I wasn't a Chemist. Sorry about being a downer.
And the book went back to the used book store.
Thanks to a freind, I now have a small stash of rag phenolic.

I use West Marine Epoxy. I've also used fiberglass resin from wallmart although it is somewhat brittle. BTW, I expect it's cheaper in theshort run to buy real Micarta!

Definitely cheaper to buy regular micarta. Though if you want something besides the normal colors/patterns, that's not really an option

i wanted to make different colors and such. That is the only reason i wanted to make some.

thanks guys.
