the rounded side is for my recurve knives i have three of them makes it a little easier. just used a nice piece of plywood and contact cement.

there's lots of info in the sharpening sub forum. Some different schools of thought. I tried a few different kinds of leather, rough and smooth,
paste or no. Rough leather works best for me, with green compound. I just use it to finish up a polished edge, and for touch ups. Getting
everything flat was one of the most important parts.
