I'll be heading back to the Philippines soon to continue work on our house to replace the one that was destroyed by the Typhoon in November. It was a rough Christmas and New Year but all the family were unhurt which is all that matters. Looking forward to getting some new knives dirty as the work carries on!
Last picture of the old shack.

What we had left to sleep in.

This is after we tore down all the unstable structure.

Beginnings of New Shack

The new Shack up in time for Christmas.

Christmas lunch Biliran Style!

Location, location, location!

Looks great in the latest pics. The pig looks sweet:thumbup: Fiddlebacks? ;)

Awesome view and thank you for sharing! Need some more pics when you arrive there!

Thanks guys, my Fiddlebacks are very happy there. I lost some knives to the typhoon and looting but my kephart, sneaky Pete and HB were safe. Looking forward to using the larger blades I've acquired. Always coconuts to split and things to make.

Glad to hear your family was safe.

That pig looks great!

How does 01 hold up in the Philippine weather?

Thanks Duder. I keep on top of the O1, as you can see we're right in the shore, my O1 kephart has developed quite a decent patina which helps and I wash it down in fresh water and coat it in coconut oil every night. The other Fiddlebacks I keep there are Cpm154 sneaky Pete and HB. I'll be taking the rest of my collection with me this time which is mainly O1 so I'll train the wife on maintenance! Almost as big a problem as the saltwater is that all the trees are fruit bearing, coconut, banana, mango etc and stain pretty heavily.

Very cool, Julian! Hard to imagine the devastation that occurs in that kind of storm. My family has done Christmas lunch much like the one shown (without the palm fronds) and loved it. Take care!

Cheers Rick. I wasn't there when the typhoon hit, but made my way there immediately. Took me 6 days from orlando to our island and couldn't contact my wife until i got there! I'll be around until the end of the month, will hopefully be nabbing a couple more sheaths.

The pig roast is semi-regular, we keep pigs but I'm still having difficulty with the slaughter. No guns, hold it down and bleed it using a bolo inserted in the throat. (Sorry if too graphic) thinking the comp cutter will work.

Great pics Jules! Thanks for the thread. I'm thankful the family is safe. I'm looking forward to some updated pics.

You should have your Runt Wednesday and hopefully it will serve you well during your work at home.

Cheers Dave, can't wait to use the runt as my edc. My in-laws, family and other locals don't get the small knife concept. If it's not at least 12" and can be used for every task then it doesn't work for them! Thats fine with me as I won't let them touch my Fiddlebacks anyway!

Amazing locale, and a great looking property. Even more special that your family stayed safe through all the devastation and are returning to rebuild their home.

I'm pretty awesome at construction ;) Would just need two trees for the hammock.

We have trees and hammocks in abundance! Fresh fish and veg every day. More the merrier!
