What Bob said! I just love the detail work on this piece - the carved / contoured integral bolster and the butt cap insert, in particular.

you got a look and feel of beauty alright!
Your work is so inspiring, I'm so glad you post your pictures here.

ELEGANT is the word that pops in my head. What an amazing piece, the lines all flow so effortlessly. I think i'm in love:D.

Beautiful work. Wonderfully controlled lines make for a cohesive look. Nothing too much and so much to look at but always in motion.
And then to take it into the leather work.. That is some really excellent and subtle use of shape... I am particularly drawn to these two photos. That negative/positive space in the little curl.. again, beautiful.

Wow, I have often thought how your knives reflect the lines of boats. Not directly, but with the subtlety that makes a boat truly beautiful compared to a boat that just looks good. Your knives have the little distinctions that make them truly great. Todd

The lines and flow of the lapstrake Viking ships has always been breathtaking to this old boatbuilder.

Wielands elegant knife-work has been the same, and this evocation is a master stroke.

Hi Gerhard!

I hadn't seen your work before. (I don't get out much.) I just had a quick look at your website. You are a craftsman and an artist with a great sense of style and skill. I'll be back to your site to peruse the many images of your marvelous creations. Thanks for posting here!

All the best, Phil

very nice looking knife and fits my ideas of what I'd like to put into a collection. only thing I would have preferred not to see is the Spanish Notch as it just does not seem to keep with the flow but that is just one opinion

All the fantastic details! The flow from the bolster into the Spanish Notch reminds me of an ocean wave! I always enjoy seeing your unique work.

@ all,
thank you all so much for your posts!
I can feel your enthusiasm in this knife- and I appreciate it!

@murray white,
I can understand your opinion to the ´spanish notch´-
but here it represents the curl on the ´oseberg´-ship´s steven and counterbalances the up-flow of the planks.

best regards
gerhard

Artistic from all views. Lovely lines and extremely difficult to do double fluted spine. The sheath is equally beautiful

thank you too for taking time to post!
I`m glad you enjoy my knife.

best regards
gerhard
