I've been looking for a good hone for my knives. I had one many years ago but it left me. I would like a water hone that creates a slurry quickly and a little on the thick side. I would appreciate any help a person could give. I've got a couple of thuringian hones from Germany and I shave with a straight razor and hone them myself. the hones for my razors are exactly for that the razors. I wouldn't us one on my knives. How about it any suggestions. Thanks

What steels do you want to sharpen? Some modern supersteels would mean you should look only at diamond or CBN or garnets.

Why do you want to "create a slurry quickly?" That's a desirable quality for some natural stones, and for synthetics when polishing, but generally not that desirable for sharpening on synthetic stones. Generally slurry has a dulling effect, which is why razors are usually finished by successively diluting slurry (at last on coticules and Japanese natural stones, not sure about slates like yours). Also synthetics that create slurry quickly tend to be soft, and therefore tend to dish quickly.
