on SOG knives... in particular I am looking at a Mini X-Ray Vision. I own a Vision titanium and love it. But I have learned quite a bit contradicting what I thought about certain knives, from the lot of knife aficionados here. So, I was hoping you fine gentlemen could give me your opinions on SOG as a brand, and the Mini X-Ray specifically. Thanks.

The Mini X-Ray Vision is a good knife for the price. I got one for a friend a while ago. I don't like the limited blade configuration though. For your money, a Spyderco Delica 4 or a Benchmade Mini-Griptilian are better buys. I can't really comment on SOG as a brand, as I haven't owned any of their other designs, although many of their fixed blades(bowies in particular) have good fit and finish -in my limited experience handling them. Just my $.02.

well i handled the smaller xray and though it was a nice knife that oppened smooth, i still prefer the full sized xray vision. if your looking for a smaller knife with that same feel check out the benchmade mini grips or there mini 520 models.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the help. I own a Mini Grip, and am not a fan of Spyderco designs. Bought a Native III, and resold it a few days later.

I own several SOG knives and I'm happy with the overall quality. My first SOG knife was an aluminum handled Flash II. Comparing it to other popular brands that I've bought later, I still regard my Flash II as being well made.

Most SOG folders have a low-ride pocket clip which I prefer to the traditional style clips. I don't have any experience with Mini X-Ray Vision, but if you can handle one , see if you like it. I also agree with wannabemarine, I 'd opt for the full size since you already have a mini grip. But I like larger folders. For some reason "mini" in the name always turns me off and anytime I've bought any mini version I always wished I'd gotten the full size. It's probably psychological since most mini sizes are more practical for me anyway.

I've handled a few of these that came to me from forum members wanting them Waved. The lock is quite strong on this model. The pocket clip is excellent and rides the knife nice and low so its out of site. The ones I've seen and played with personally have been very smooth openers also. Overall I gave it a pretty high score.

On the down side. The handle was a bit smallish for my hand and the uses of the tanto blade shape were quite limited but I feel that way about tantos in general and especially on folders. If you like that though the rest of the knife is pretty solid.

Thank you both. I am definitely going to pick one up now. I sincerely appreciate the feedback.

JPD, I already own a titanium Vision in full size. Hence the desire for the mini.
