There is a forumite here that I have met before. I have considered him a friend from the start. It has been probably 3 years or so since I first met him, definately a real knife-knut and good friend.

So anyway, back in December he had me email him my snail-mail addy to him so he could send a little gift when his schedule permitted. Things of course can get very busy, so when I saw a priority box in my mail box today, my first thought was "huh, did I order something?" Ah, I see it is from my friend.

So I go in the house and open it. Trust me when I say I was so surprised that I almost dropped it when it finally registered in my slow okie-brain just what I was holding. Im not kidding, I was speechless. A very pretty, very cool, and very mint condition Kit Carson Model 4. A knife I have wanted for a very long time.

Talk about something special, this is it! For somebody to be that generous and thoughtful is really great.

I did not mention his name above. I am sure it would be ok too say who it is, but I just want to wait and double check with him to make sure its alright with him. I was going to ask him in an email I sent him today, but in my excitement I forgot. As soon as I ask and get an OK, I will revisit this thread an post the giver. Until then, I just wanted to show off this great gift.

WHOO_WHEE! Awesome gift there. For what it's worth, I have always found the bolsterless Carson's to be the most appealing. I am looking for a new custom EDC and that one is darned near on top of the list. Really a nice gesture.

Huge thanks to Jeremy Reynolds for the really great gift!

Hey, I knew Jeremy was allright, but I had no idea he was THAT allright.

:)

If i could take pics that nice, i wouldn't have to give this stuff away!

Rich, I am really glad you like it. I wanted it to go to someone who would appreciate it.

Most of you know that I am a huge Carson fan. I have 7 other Carsons left in my collection. I have noticed over the past several months, this particular model 4 was sitting collecting dust. I had been carrying my medium CF m4 and my c20 exclusively. THis knife here was made to be carried and used. I didn't feel it could truely be appreciated sitting on a shelf.

Well, as Richard said, we've been friends for a while. We would meet up at the gun show and he would take knife pics for me. He always treated me well and helped me out when he had a chance. Richard always liked seeing my Carsons and always had an M4 on his dream list. A while back, there was some health problems in his family and Richard sold off a lot of knives and never got to save up for an M4 as he needed the money for other things

So, I was sitting around one day and started thinking. This is a great knife, but I can't really appreciate the true beauty of it without using it. I was gonna sell it, but decided to keep it. After a while, I looked at it again and just couldn't stand it not being used.

Well, it always makes me feel good to give back to a community that has always given me so much. So when the oppertunity came to give this knife to a person who would truely appreciate it by using and carrying daily, I jumped on it. And I would have had a hard time picking someone more deserving.

Both you guys are top-level role models of what knife nuts can be to each other. Life is good. Favors are repaid in obvious ways and sometimes less so. This was pretty damn obvious! :):D ;) Congrats to both!

Very cool Rich. Use that Carson!
JR is a great guy...wonder which Carson he is going to send me...hmm....:D

Wow, what a gesture! Congrats Richard on your super gift! I'm sure you can think of many great ways to use that M4.

Rock on JR, you are a solid guy for sure.

Samhell: I can etch "CARSON" on my Frost Cutlery su-g-cal stainless steel bowie and send it to ya as a thanks for all the harrassment! How's that sound?

Jeremy my man, you really do take the cake. Good on ya, you have shown time and time again that you truely are one of the good guys.

See the good that comes when knife guys get together? Don't forget to send Jeremy a coin so ya don't cut that friendship ;)

Congratulations on the great gift, Richard.

Jeremy, you are truly a great friend. :)

Congrats! Beautiful knife.

Here's a superstition for you. Richard should pay Jeremy a dollar for the Carson because some eastern cultures believe that knives if given as gifts will cut the bonds of friendship.
