Honeybee Tie Clips

After I recently became a certified Spyder Knut, I made a tie clip out of a honeybee slip-it. The Bug was too small, and the Grasshopper was a tad heavy. Friends and family saw it and I kept getting gift requests.

Most have been given away, though I do have one neighbor that saw mine at church and wanted one, then another, then a bunch for his grandkids. Also gave him a few .223 clips. I've given him a number of knives over the years because he is so enamored with most knives that I have carried. So when he made the request of me, he offered to pay whatever I wanted. I only charged him my raw cost because they were really just for fun, not trying to turn out a product. But they do turn heads. :D I guess a plus is that you always have at least a tiny edge with you...hidden in plain sight.

Probably a bigger hit then the year I gave .280Rem brass screwdrivers (and full kits to a select few) for Christmas.

Crap, why does TinyPic host always rotate my pics? Sorry for that. I have not found a rotate feature on their site yet.

Awesome idea, thanks for the pics!

I also host on tinypic. I usually take and post pics from my phone. I used to have the same problem, but realized any time I cropped a pic the correct orientation would "stick."

Apophis, thanks for the tip. Where you cropping on your phone, or did you find some edit feature on Tinypic?

Care to share your method of affixing the clip to the knife?? :o

Just on my phone. The Android Gallery on my Samsung has a crop tool built in. It also doesn't seem to matter how much or little you crop at all.

I actually just used basic super glue. I purchased some epoxy originally, but decided to try one out with super glue because it was fast 'n easy, and it held just fine. So I just kept using it. Probably given out about a dozen of them now.

I also tried using a magnet on the back. It takes a fairly strong little rare earth magnet to stick through both layers of a basic silk tie. But the day I wore it, seemed to move around a bit, and was afraid of losing it at speed on my bike. The clip seems much more solid, although unable to center on the tie like the magnet.

Now if I could find a raw flat topped tie/lapel pin at the hobby shops (tried locally, no luck), then was thinking of using the little "Bug" as a lapel pin. Dang, I'm a walking advertisement on the one day a week I don't wear jeans. :)
