Hey All - Looking to see if anyone has a good insights on where to snag some honeycomb for making scales. Its pretty expensive on EBAY and Etsy. wondering if anyone has a good inside track on wrangling it from a distributor in 2x4 sheets. Ill be using System Three River Cast for casting.

thanks all!

Ebay and Amazon have lots. Several of the knife supply companies have it too. I see it from $17.50 to $35. Shop around.
I don't think it is usually made in large sheets.

You could make your own by purchasing aluminum honeycomb metal sheets and fill them with colored epoxy resin. A 5X8X.75" piece runs around $25. That could make three knife handles. You would want to get a silicone mold frame to make them in. They are readily available through the woodworking and casting resin companies.

My favorite color for honeycomb scales is the black. I do sgian dubhs in it sometimes. I like small cell sizes in 1/8" and1/16"

Just thought of a possible large sheet source for the honeycomb base - laser honeycomb bed sheet. 500X500X25mm is around $50.
