Hi guys,

The knifemaker sent me some early pics of the rehandling job. I think it is drop dead gorgeous.

More to come when the work is completed.

Those pics were taken by Eric Seguin, the artist and knifemaker currently working on my Bawanna Bowie

I'm now looking for someone to help me make a nice leather sheath for it.

Whats this? One of them $450 custom knifes I keep seeing here in BF?
Oh wait now I can see it :p
Nice work!

Whats the name of the material?

I think Eric used stabilized wood for this one. It sure looks like it. It is not too expensive and totally stable (will not shrink like wood or horn) and it is also impervious to weather.

I'll ask him next time I write/talk to him.

That's gotta be close to done, I don't see no way to improve on that much. Looks really nice. He done good.

That looks like Micarta to me. With the different colors showing through the various layers. It's rock solid good stuff and not anywhere near the cost of stabilized woods. It's really tough stuff.

To me it kind of screams a need for kydex, not sure why.

From what I read, you need to talk to PUGS..... Ask him for the beavertail special :-P

PUGS and I started on the wrong foot when I thought that showcasing a Bonecutter next to a cut bone (with small prints under saying it will void the warranty if you damage it on bones) was not such a great idea. As much as I love you guys, the forum and all what stand behind the great HI products. I still think the same about this picture. Being on PUGS ignore list is something I can live with. My lost I guess. :)

Thank you, the other side looks like rotten beacon ;-)

Can we say it is Bawanna approved?

Just kidding. I was also wondering what was left to do on it.

We can definitely say it is bawanna approved, not that that means a whole lot.

Thanks,

We are missing the naked blade, Eric forgot to take a pic after he stripped the original handle.
The idea was to show a pic for each stage before the final product comes to life.

I can't wait to hold it in my hand and feel the shape.

Wow! Very nice! It does look like Micarta. Looks like they may have died several layers of wood separately and then laminated them together? The finish is amazing!

The knife made it back home. It's even nicer in real.
I'm totally in love with it. The handle spiced up an already incredible little knife.

It pleases the hand has much as the eye.

And as a bonus, the bladesmith made it razor sharp.
