I’ve been getting into traditionals more and more over the past 3 to 4 months (outside of my grandfather giving me a barlow 25 to 30 years ago that I still have) here in the Traditionals sub forum. I know it’s bad to say, but the first traditional I bought was a Rough Rider medium Stockman; although, buying that inexpensive knife allowed me to purchase 2 Case knives next.

I ended up buying 2 Case brand knives, a large Stockman, and a Peanut. Both knives were in carbon steel as a test, and within that time I grew to like the pen blade on the peanut the best of all the blades. I really like the peanut, but I feel the handle is too short to do a large amount of cutting with. I started looking at knives that had a pen blade on them, and one day I think I found what I was looking for. It’s on this post # 25699 on the “what traditional knife are you totin” thread:

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/547127-What-quot-Traditional-Knife-quot-are-ya-totin-today/page1285

I couldn’t believe it, on the very next post Duane (known as Sitflyer here on Blade forums) told me that I won a giveaway for no reason. What was really amazing is that out of his kind generosity, he gave me a Case small Texas Jack!

Thank you so much Duane, I’ve never seen such generosity from such a large number of great people as I have here in the Traditionals sub forum. (I have heard this from others around here as well)

So, I thought I would post some pictures:

Thanks again Duane, this is going to be in my pocket for a long time.

Duane is one of the best here in Traditionals, that´s a fact. I´ve also recieved some great gifts from this great man, a real gentleman.

The crowd around here is just of great people.

You got some nice knives there. Both of them will do their duty for a long time, I´m sure. (I think you got also infected by the traditional virus, so welcome onboard ... ;) )

Enjoy these two knives and I´m sure when you put them out of your pocket you´ll remember Duanes generosity.

Awesome gesture of a really sweet knife, one of my favorites.

Nicely done!

Nothing beats a gift knife; they stay special forever.

What a great way to start out (into the abyss of growing a collection!).

Rotate the goodness. I am really taken by the kindness of the people in this forum.

Does anyone know how long Case has and will produce this standalone? I may have to get a duplicate eventually.

On ya sweptedge!, and Duane-thank you for your generosity, such a valuable forum member here in Traditionals!
Great reading!

Wasn't it Dorothy that said "There's no place like home"? This is home to me as I suspect for many others ;)

Enjoy that great knife Chad!!! and Duane you are an honorable man

Good on both of you!!!

Paul

So glad to hear that one made the trip ok...and that you liked it:) I gotta ask though, how DO you like the pen blade on this Texas Jack?

Yeah, I've had it in both hands, and it feels out of the SAK Classic range, but it seems to fit on a full handled knife. Ya' know,- if I could make a Delica/Endura with a small pen blade, I think I would, but this knife is all that I can ask for in a traditional. It fits the spot I was looking for. It's got small, medium, then I have large in another folder.

Thanks, I'll have to repay you somehow

Many times I have been the recipient of kindness and generosity here, it is my pleasure to pay it forward. Some day in some small way, just do the same :)

That is very generous of him. I really like that pattern..would really like to think about getting one in the next month or so as my second case knife. had a case trapper in cv that i lost about a year ago i really miss the traditional

I believe that the 62032 in Amber Bone CV is part of the Case standard line-up and isn't likely to be discontinued soon. They seem to bring it out in SS from time to time, most recently in the Winterbottom Sunset Bone handle type. It's often called the Medium Jack in different handles.

I'd really love to see them add it to the Chestnut Bone CV handle.

I like the pattern so much I have 3 of them - two in CV and one in SS. The two in CV are my most often carried knives. I'm encouraging a patina on one of them and avoiding it on the other.

Use and enjoy yours, it's a great knife!

I pulled the same year of nickel out of my pocket today, from lunch change. I always loved our polygonal nickels, Oh, and that knife is pretty darn nice (I guess :) ). Great knives passed along here quite often, congradations on fate preparing you for your win!

Typical generosity from our man Duane, and from this great forum. Well done Duane :)

Enjoy your knife sir, Case Texas Jack is a sterling pattern

I made a short YouTube video if anyone is interested. It shows the knife in more of a 3D view :)

I have a couple of friends on there who can appreciate such a knife
