I have always wanted to go for the Moran award at Bladeshow ever since I first heard that there was such a thing. I grew up not far from his shop and he was often talked about as myth. Even in none blade circles if someone around here found out that you made blades it was likely that Bill's name would get brought up.

Last Spring I decided this was the year. My execution was not without flaws, but I wanted to try some new things, ended up being a lot of new things. However, I can not recommend giving this a try to all makers with at least a JS skill level. I approached it with a colab in mind as if Moran and myself were designing a piece together. I took single elements from about 10 of his knives and put them into one. It was a blast. I will certainly do it again and I hope you consider going for the award as well.

I made a video of the process if you are into seeing what I did.
