Good afternoon, all.
I just wanted to tell you about a project I've undertaken.
My wife is involved with Quilts of Valor. Their members make patriotic quilts to donate to service members and their families to provide comfort. Her quilting guild made over 75 quilts a couple of months ago. They have been presenting quilts to deserving honorees since then. We are going to a veterans home this week to make final arrangements to present quilts to their residents (all vets).
On November 7 we are honoring a special ops veteran named Metro Boone Fox. We have known Metro for several years. He is a hero as are all of those who have served.
Metro is an avid knife collector.
I've been asking knife companies, retail stores and private individuals if they'd be willing to offer a "special knife" to present to Metro on Nov. 7.
The response has been heartwarming.
I just wanted to post this to let all of you know that there are some mighty fine people in this world who have offered to send a knife to me so that I may pass it on to Metro.
Every knife I've received is priceless as Metro will be truly thrilled.
I want to thank everyone who has been so generous.
I'll post pictures of both events after the presentations.
Thanks again to everyone who has helped me with my "project."
PS Kate has started a quilting group with the purpose of only making Quilts of Valor. They had their first meeting last week and already, 3 quilts have been made. If you'd like to help, contact Kate at laststitchstudio@aol.com or visit www.QOVF.org
