I spotted this by accident. 65/35 Polly/Cotton Twill. Water resistant. Looks to be a neat parka to bum around the woods and mostly priced in the $30 range. Advertised as being made in the US too.

What do you guys think? Or, will it fall apart on the second day? hehe

Yeah I've seen those on the Bay and been tempted... if you get one, let us know!!

I used an anorak like this for years and years
It was in canvas by an old English company called Blacks

If it is windproof or resistant, then for $30 it is well worth the try

Use the subject line of this thread as search on e-bay or google. You'll find it. Or, look at where I linked the pic from. ;)

Only 138,000 Google results.
Should take no time at all. :)
Dunno how to see where you linked the picture from. I'm a genius in everything BUT computers.

Been wantin one for awhile now and for 30 bucks it looks worth a try. Warm layers under should make for a good system....IMO

Or for $60-$70 you could get a Frogg Toggs or Cabela's Dry-Plus Ultra jacket/anorak & it would be wind & water proof. Just a thought.

I'm thinking that if this parka isn't up to your waterproofness standards - you could always spray it with the water repellant sprays for fabric or shoes.

Get the biggest size
Size it for a bulky fleece and or a down vest
And thread a draw string into the bottom seam

When these were made in canvas in England 45 years ago, we would pull our arms inside the anorak without taking the anorak off
It was a wonderful way to keep warm
This was in the days we used clothes from the house, not hiking gear
And this anorak was the only extra clothing you needed for hill walking
And of course boots with the 'modern' vibram soles

Extra big is my plan but, I'm looking to buy once at a bit higher price than the OP stated. That's holding me back for awhile.:)
The coat is made of white canvas with a bit of trim in green or red.
This isn't me, but it could be.

Me Wolf,

You are looking at two very different anoraks

The $30 is a wind jacket that insulates you from the wind
And it will fit over a heavy sweater, wool shirt and even perhaps a vest
Very good for active wear up to freezing weather
I used this in Cold Wet enviroment with rain gear as needed

The $210 is a piece of sub-zero (F) weather gear
This takes heavy insulated clothing underneath
It is white because it is used in the snow and will stay clean
A beautiful thigh length coat, I had the US surplus fishtail parka as an equivalent
I used this in Cold Dry frigid weather

I realize that. I'm in Minnesota and it fits my needs. What one wears underneath is more the factor. The white canvas is no more insulated that the lightweight one of the OP.
