Any know if the current hoodlums are holding up better than the last few that had problems? Did they fix the heat treat? I couldn't really find any updates. Thinking of buying one instead of a scrapyard 911. Due to price difference. But I have read quite a few bad reviews, of the blade warping while chopping, or snapping while battoning. Any updates? Thanks

my punk is stellar at least. I did snapped off the tip like nothing, but the edge has held really great with woodworking. I repaired the tip myself and the knife has left me well impressed with 5160!

Any reports of this problem to my knowledge are very old.... are there any reports less than 2 years old?

With a Lifetime warranty, how could you go wrong?

I understand the lifetime warranty, but that does me no good in the wilderness with a broken knife. I couldn't find any recent updates, that's why I figured I would post here and see. Thanks.

I understand. I am curious to see what information your inquiry brings out.

I've had both a Scrapyard 911 and a Hoodlum. I didn't care for the 911 (love the 711). I sold the 911 and still have the Hoodlum.

What's a thread without pics.

Nice. Thanks. I'm thinking I'm just going to buy a 911 off the exchange. Rather not take a chance. I really like the design of the hoodlum, just not really liking the thought of the blade breaking on that notch.

Gee whiz.... :o in under 3 hours you've decided against the Hoodlum .... you could at least give your post a day or 2 more to try and glean some more answers. You did ask for opinions ....

I'm not a fan of the notch in the blade, but I wouldn't worry about it breaking. My opinion is people went way out of their way to break it. Ron Hood (RIP) knew what he was doing and so does Buck. I trust both of them, but you make the call.

If you want one, this is the time. I believe the Hood line of knives has been discontinued.

Been researching a little longer than 3 hours, then decided to post here. I just know what I'm getting with scrapyard. And I really do trust buck, but believe this is design flaw. Just my opinion. Still haven't decided 100%

Love or hate watch nuttinfancy video about that knife.

Watched most of his review. But what I'm wondering now, is will this knife be a more capable camp knife than my busse team Gemini? I'm not even sure if it's worth spending the money for even a slight upgrade. Hmm
