Well here's a few photos from the last two weeks- spring break and turkey season. Hopefully I have 2 future outdoorsmen on my hands.

My daughter's been learning about the presidents, so we took her to Abe Lincoln's birthplace

The cabin is enclosed in this building, with 56 granite steps leading up to it (one for each year of his life).

The kids wanted to go hiking while we were there. They really liked a game we played while hiking, similar to eye spy.

Next up was turkey season, both kids want to go hunting with me.

(did you see the JK Ky Fieldmate- thought about it after the first photo, and included it here. It's been used on several KY turkeys and a couple TX turkeys, its been my go to turkey knife since I got it)

Hooked we went fishing one afternoon at a friends pond, with the grandparents.

It's hard work reeling in a big fish.

Something smells fishy!

John have you ever made a fillet knife? I don't recall seeing photos of one.

An added bonus of being at the grandparents- picking strawberries

Man, if I ever start turkey hunting, I am bending your ear! Great photos, looks like you're getting the most out of life!

Does not get any better than that! Spending time with family is always the most fun, thanks for posting. We used to go all around Kentucky when I was a kid, my Dad had Army buddies there, near Chaplin.

It quite simply does not get better than that.

Sounds like a fantastic time, and doing so with kids... priceless.

Hi Derek -

Your kids are so cute! They are lucky to have such great parents and grandparents.

My Grandparents had a house in extreme southern Illinois and they grew berries and asparagus, and there was an apple orchard behind their property.

Great memories!

I like to take my granddaughters fishing when they come out to our house.

Thanks for the pictures - I always enjoy seeing you and your family having fun and enjoying the great outdoors.

best regards -
