Hope I didn't make "Big John" Fitch mad but . . .

. . . I had to do it!

Les Robertson sold me one of only two large fighters (10" blade) that John has made in D2 using the stock removal method. John says he prefers to forge (according to Tactical Knives he'll be making some smaller military knives using this method). I've been admiring that blade and those quench lines for a week now and finally had to go out and chop something. There were some limbs hanging over the fence from my neighbor's tree that were in my way everytime I got out of my truck. They're not there now, the knife is no longer a collectable and I'm happy as I can be!!!

This knife CUTS! I like it more now than I did before I used it. And I plan on using it some more!! This is a great knife!

. . . and although I don't really know John (only met him once), from what I've read about him I'll bet he don't mind.

(I hope . . . 'cuz that guy's really BIG!)

John Fitch's knives cut with the best of them. He has won a few cutting competitions himself, and I'm sure that his brute strength is only a partial factor. I have seen John cut and I have cut with John's knives. Very impressive, indeed! Good score on the bowie.

I plan on getting my hands on one of John's knives. I really like the small tactical that was in Blade magazine a couple of issues ago.

"Flatgrind" is a big man; I think I could take him though!;)

I just don't know 'bout them Arkansas boys :D.

John would be tickled that you are using the knife no doubt about that, but I got my doubts about Darby takin' him. :)

Speaking of that small tactical from Blade....

And for fans of his larger knives...

There's a great article about a recent cutting competition that John won in the most recent Blade Magazine. You can't miss it - on the cover is a massive broad-bladed Fitch bowie that is utterly dwarfed by the even more massive Fitch fist (say that five times fast) holding it.

All photos taken by Murray White at a recent gathering of knife nuts here in Toronto.

John had a small flaw in his dagger that no one but he could find. He decided to wait until next year since he felt he could do better.

Says a lot about the man in my book.

I wonder what happened to the knives he was planning to present... He probably sold them all, I suppose....

Yep, I saw a sign on John's table that said, "Sold out". No surprise to me, since I like everything John makes. I'm sure I'm not alone in that viewpoint.

He did sell the test knives all but the dagger with the flaw that was to go to me. He refused to sell it due to the "flaw".
