Hope I like the Native

Decided I want to check out the Native. I've never handled it, but I just bought two of em' on ebay (one plain one spyderedge). Anyone have something to say about this knife?

To me, the Native is one of the absolute best small to midsize knives made by Spyderco or anyone. I have owned or own every version of this knife and I have loved all of them. In fact, the Native is so good that often I don't have one because I know that if I want to sell a knife or trade, a Native is one that I can move with no problem.

I think that the current Native in S30V and the Native III in VG-10 both great cutters and they really fit the hand well while providing excellent protection. In my experience, Natives are very easy to sharpen also.

I've got a regular Native in S30V, a Native III, and a BRK 1st Gen Native. The regular is a great knife, very comfortable to use, and the fastest Spyderco to thumb open that I own. The Native III is even more comfortable to hold, due to the contoured handle and also opens pretty easy, but not quite as easy as the regular one and it feels a bit "fatter" in the pocket. The BRK is a lower quality knife, not junk by any means but not in the same league as the "real" Natives. It was stiff as a board when I got it, and nowhere near as sharp as the others, but responded pretty well to lapping the cam (although it's still far stiffer than the others) and 440A is easy to sharpen.

Come to think of it, I was one of the lucky recipients of an "Anthony Q" pre-owned S30V Native. :D :D

Oh, I think you'll like the Native :D One of my favourites - got an old one in Gin-1 steel and a new one in S30V. Love the ergonomics on these knives and they're smooth and easy opening. But if you don't like them I'll take them off your hands..............;)

I have a drawerful of great knives, and the one I reach for most is my Native. Just a super all-around knife. I bet you'll be very happy with them! :)

Please post back to this thread (or start a new one) and let us know your impressions after you get them.

Will do! Thanks for input - Now Im VERY excited to receive the knives. I know spyderco wouldn't let me down.

Bought two when they first came out, and gave one to a work friend for helping me move. Always been a fave for both of us, as well as a perennial favorite around here. Good choice.
