After your advice I think I'm going to order the LCC while the sale is still on at 1SKS. Hope the sale is through Monday.

When I posted the original question I was wanting a folder with solid Ti handles but all advice pointed toward the LCC. (Wish I could afford a Sebenza, Then there would be no hard decision to make) As everyone said, I doubt that I'll be dissappointed I just had my heart set on solid Ti and I don't want to have to buy another for a long time! Also like the frame type lock. On the other hand I'm very picky on quality. I read where someone went over their LCC with a "loop". I'm not quite that bad (not really "bad") but I'm very close. Oh well...

When I place my order what sharpener should I get. I have a flat stone and can put a good edge of my own on a pocket knife but nothing compared to factory. Should I look at something that clamps on the blade?

Once again, Thanks in advance! -Dave

If you miss the sale, you might want to check out Bayou Lafourche Knife Works http://www.knifeworks.com/ who has a lower price anyway, I think. He also carries the Spyderco Sharpmaker, which will keep that edge razor sharp.

Spyderco Sharpmaker all the way.

Dave,
I agree the Sharpmaker is the best sharpener system for knives that don't require a lot of touch up to maintain their razor edge. If you wanted a benchstone, got with a DMT diamond sharpener. I find that the bevel doesn't slip as easily on diamond so you can maintain the angle easier. For a field sharpener I recommend the Spyderco Double stuff ceramic stone (fine and med). Small, easy to carry and in its own leather case.

I have a LCC by the way and can not believe how well it is made for $125! Without a doubt the best buy out there this year. This thing is sturdier than most custom folders IMHO.

Good luck...tell us how things work out.

You might have the same problem that I have found 'tho...The Sharpmaker makes knives SO DARN SHARP that I'm almost afraid to handle 'em now!.

Personally, I'd get an Edge Pro Apex. But that will cost somewhere around $160 with the upgrade kit.

I have heard the LCC are decent knives and seem to be well made. If you still have your heart set on a sebenza, just set money aside till you can afford one. I was in the same boat, it took me a couple of months but it was well worth it ( i have a small plain) i love it and use it everyday. I agree with everyone about the spyderco sharpener, i have one also i find it to be extremely easy to use. It also comes with a video which is very helpful.

Hope this helps.
