I Have An 882 Police Knife. On The Left Side Of The Tang It Has Strider, Buck Tarani. On The Right Is Bos , Ats-34, U.s.a. But Also Sb.4. I Assume The Sb Is For Strider Buck. But Not Being Familiar The Tactical Thing Very Much, I'm Wondering If Anyone Can Tell Me What The .4 Is.

Sounds like a good question to me...but could you post a pic??? It would help immensely... :)

I'LL TRY. DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT COMPUTERS BUT I,M GOING TO A BUDDY,S HOUSE TONIGHT AND I THINK HIS WIFE MIGHT BE ABLE TO HELP.

The mark underneath the SBX should be the buck year stamp. Like the upside down U on my 881T.

Hey Goshen...

Everyone here has more knowledge than me on these things :D :D... just making a guess thats all...I am sure an answer will come up.. :)

that Sounds Possible. The Oldest Catalog I Have Has An 882 With 420hc.dont Know If That Makes A Difference.?

I Take That Back. The Handle Was Different Not The Blade Steel! Ishould Pay More Attention.

Not Going To Keep This Going Long. Just Wondering If Anyone Had A Difinitive Answer. Not That Important. Just Curious.

The .4 could relate to a certain variant, but I am not sure. As far as I know, Buck/Strider made several variants of the 882 and 889. One was ATS34 and G10 with torx fasteners, another model was the military variant as a pinned construction, and a low end model with the 420 in pinned construction. Some used hex fasteners as well, I believe.

BTW, there are no dumb questions, there are only dumb answers.

I SEEM TO HAVE BOTH SOMETIMES!

The story I remember was that the 4 means it is the 4th Strider Buck (sb) model that the two companies collaborated on. I need to check into that further though to make sure. A quick check of Buck catalogues from 2001 and on cast some doubt on that theory.
