Some of my knife handles with rubberized grip have become insanely sticky and the sticky stuff gets on your hands too. Anyone know a good remedy to stop this sticky from existing, occurring and all that? Please help.

I would be interested in the answer to this also. I have a few old folders with rubberized coverings that have the same issue. Mike

Good to know I am not alone. I tried doing a search and found some interesting answers. It was not for rubberized grip knife handles though. It was for a rubber handle mug I think it.

The best answer chosen was making a baking soda paste. I think with one of them I did try some soap and water. I think nothing changed when I did that. I will also retry again as it does not hurt and of course try the baking soda paste one eventually but wondered if the k-nife- k-nuts had encountered this problem and conquered it.

i'm not sure if there is anything to get rid of the sticky problem. i put neoprene handles on biggest part of the knives i make and i use scotchbrite wheels to get rid of the sand lines from shaping them down on the belt sander. have you tried to scrape the handle to see how deep it goes? it might be possible to remove a little of the outer layer to clean up the handle.

here are the numbers for the wheels i use. pn. 048011 gold wheel 05974 pn. 051144 red 80678

Sometimes, certain solvents can help 'dry' the stickiness out of some materials. I've usually noticed this by accident, after 'cleaning' the material with isopropyl alcohol or something similar. They almost always become a bit drier and less 'grippy' than before. I'm assuming the included resins or or other oils, etc. in the material are what contribute to the stickiness, and the solvent thins and/or strips some of that away. If trying alcohol or other solvent for this, be careful not to overdo it, as it might end up slicker & drier than you really want.
