My daughter is attending her first prom tonight. :)   I hope you all don't mind a proud pappa posting up some pics of his not-so-little, little girl. There is one picture with a sword to make it forum-related. :)

Life goes by so fast. Enjoy your kids. Give 'em a hug.

I saw the sword- it's "Sting" from LOTR.

Nice crown moldings too. We put those in recently.

OK, nice dress.

You DID tell that fine young man you collect knives, right?

Great photos and a lovely young woman!

Having gone through the same thing with my daughter this year, I can relate to a fellow father's emotions :)

Mr. Taylor, you have an elegant and amazing daughter.

You do have much to be proud of.

Nice pictures, they gave me a fuzzy feeling. I have 3 girls myself and i wish they will grow up to become as elegant as your daughter.
I thought 2 pictures where funny
#1 with the sword ( did she volunteered to handle it, and was her date all ready in the vicinity?)
and the last picture where she is leaning on her date :D, her date's facial expression is totally funny "dude, her dad collects knives, man! should i just smile or start running away! " :D

Thanks for the kind comments, guys! Yes, the young man in question does know I collect sharp, pointy objects. ;) :D Here's a picture of him from last fall with my Arms and Armor German Bastard Sword http://i54.photobucket.com/albums/g91/emteewallet/Katie Prom/IMG_0767a.jpg .

The crown molding belongs to 'the boyfriend's' family. The picture in this post was taken at our house. The LotR sword was a toy that they happened to have nearby, so the boyfriend wasn't in much danger - at least from her. ;) The young man (Andrew) is a good sort and makes me feel about as safe as I ever will when she's out with a boy. That didn't stop me from telling them to be safe and behave, though. ;)

They had a great time.

That's great, looks like he is really commited to make her happy  Looks like he is willing to date her on a steady base, even with "psychodad", always a good sign. :) ( well i always pretend to be psychodad ;) ).
When i dated my wife, i had to wait in the waitingroom for her ( her dad is a dentist) along with his patients. I spend quit a few hours (spread over some months) there before i was allowed to enter his private property. Her brothers always went to look at me and make fun of me while i was sitting there with flowers. The other patients frequently asked me why i was giving flowers to my dentist.

I haven't been through the wringer with a daughter yet (I would like to one day, I think...), but have been the big brother to a much younger sister here for about 23 years... My dad enjoyed getting to be the easygoing, affable, nice guy, and I always made sure an object of potential violence was in plain sight when the "fella" would come by.

Now that she is all grown up, we don't worry about her anymore. I guess all of that protective stuff may have paid off. My sister is about as wise as a college-aged girl could be.

Lovely daughter, Mark. And if her guy is one that you can (mostly) trust, then you have done a good job raising her. She picked him, and if you approve, well... Looks like something stuck, eh?

Congratulations. She's a lovely young woman, but I'm wondering how she is going to be able to conceal that sword? I assume you're sending it with her just in case!

A fine looking couple.

Congrats. She looks lovely. I'm terrified.

Thanks, again, for the kind remarks. It'll be interesting to see what happens; he heads off to college in about five weeks. He's heading to Kettering (near Detroit) to study Mechanical Engineering. My daughter has two more years of high school. I'm sure there'll be other BFs in her future. If so, they'll all get to see the 'collection'...;) :D... and get the talk.

Sword matches the dress nicely. Bone-handled kothimoda would've been perfect, though :D

Thanks for the pics.

My daughter went to her first prom about 2 weeks ago and I can tell you that it was an interesting mix of emotions. Glad I only have one daughter.

I have another daughter, but she's just finishing up 5th grade. That gives me a few years to re-prepare. ;)

It'll be interesting to see what kind of treatment my two boys get when their GF days start.
